It's Time...

It's time for me to start taking better care of myself.  It's time I lose some weight and start to get in better shape.  I tend to focus my attention on taking care of others and not so much on myself.  Do you do that too? That needs to change.

I've been feeling like this for awhile but it's time to start doing something about it.

Next month I will turn 39.  So you know what next year is...ugh.  I can hardly believe I will be 40 years old.  I really want to look and feel better by then.

 So, where do I start?

I am not signing on with any weight loss program.  And I am not doing any special diet.  I want it to be a lifestyle change and not a quick fix.  It took me a while to get to this point and it will take a while to improve it.

I need to make better food choices and incorporate more fruits and veggies in my diet.
I need to drink more water.
I need to cut out the Cokes.
I need to get out and walk.

I've been entering everything I am eating and drinking this week in My Fitness Pal.  I actually downloaded the app to my phone but you can also access it on your computer.  I have a friend who has told me numerous times to keep a food diary so I can really see what I am eating and where the calories are coming from.  I never listened...until now.

I can drink more water even though I don't really like to.  But thanks to lemons and Crystal Light On The Go I can do it.  The Raspberry Lemonade is my favorite!

Giving up my Cokes?  Oh that's gonna be a tough one.  I only drink 1 a day and I like it at lunch time.  But at 140 calories do I really need it?  Some days I think I do!!!  See, I told you it was gonna be a tough one for me.

View Image  As for walking, I can do that.  It's free and it's a great way to enjoy these pretty days. Walgreens rolled out a new Walk With Walgreens program.  In an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle and help save you money they've developed this program.  Basically you log in your walking minutes and you are rewarded with coupons.  Did someone say coupon???  You know I love my coupons :)  Go HERE to learn more about this program and get started.  And I can play Just Dance with my kids.  I did the other night and really danced my heart out.  I was huffing and puffing after about 3 songs.  But it is a fun way to work out so I'll be doing it again.

I won't be posting about this all the time but from time to time I will post my progress.  I need the accountablity.

Are you in the same place I am?  Maybe we can help each other.  Or maybe you've already been here and can share your tips and tricks.  Help is always appreciated.

I'm sharing this at Amanda's Weekend Bloggy Reading party today.

  3. For over 2 years my husband and I ate dinner at 8pm and recently we moved and he has doesn't have to work those late days anymore. We eat dinner at 5pm everyday I try my very best not to eat any snacks or anything after 6pm. I only let myself have 1 cup coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day. Water really does help clean out your system and keep you hyrdated. Since the weather is finally getting warmer, I take my daughter to the park and get my heart rate moving. I have lost 7 pounds so far just changing my dinner time and increase water, plus having the right proportion size meals, 3 a day! I want to start jogging outside too!

Food diary is a great idea and I think i'll start one now too!

  4. Having a work out/accountability partner really helps. It has to be someone that will make you do what you need to do on the days you don't feel like it....not someone that says, 'oh that's ok, honey, you just skip your workout today' or 'you deserve that extra 2,000 calorie brownie' :0) My dh & I have started running together and most days he has to MAKE me (lol) but I thank him afterwards every time and know that I couldn't do it without him! You can do it though-I have confidence in you!! Actually you can do ALL things through Christ who gives you strength! =)

  9. I'm right there with you. I have been eating horrible lately. I won't mention anything about the two donuts I ate today :( I keep telling myself that I'll start eating better and exercising next week. That HAS to stop and I need to start taking care of myself NOW! Thanks for the boost of inspiration :)

  11. Let me just say...I know how you feel! SOOOOOOOOO much. I had a baby last year and gained 60, yes SIX-TY, lbs. It took me a ful year and 4 months to lose it all. I agree that having an accountability buddy helps so much. I started running in the fall with a friend just 2-3 times a week and have seen huge improvements since then. I follow WW old points program and have for years. I absolutely SWEAR by it, and I have followed a mixture of cardio/strength training routines to shed faster.
Good luck on your journey! I would love to hear from you if you have ANY questions.

  12. The fact that you are aware and have started is half the battle. I started WW back in February with my hubby and I have lost about 16 pounds and he has lost 25 pounds!(Men have those super fast metabolisms !) The accountability is what I needed and the food diary too! I hope you have much success and never stop trying! I like your blog and very pretty too! Visiting from Amanda's link party
