Baby Steps Toward a New Bedroom

I have been wanting to fix up my bedroom for some time now but haven't known what I want to do, haven't wanted to spend much etc. At the beginning of this year I decided it was time...this is the year I will FINALLY take care of the master bedroom and bathroom in my home. Now, since I've made that decision...where do I start?!?

It is not unusual for me to see things or find pictures of things I like or that I would like to try to do. It is, however, unusual for me to actually DO these things! So...this is where the baby steps come in. Little by little I will get there on this project...

First, I need to paint the walls...still working on that baby step of selecting a color.

Next I want some new bedroom furnishings. I know that I don't want to walk into a furniture store and pick out a set and be all "matchy-matchy". I want something a little different and I want to be frugal about it.

I was excited to stumble across a blog post not long ago with a photo that has become the inspiration for my new bed. I just love what The Little Green Bean did with this door for a headboard! Surely I can do that too, right? (check out her site to see more pictures of it)
So I was off in search of a door since I wasn't lucky enough to just happen to have one in my garage. I found one at a local Habitat For Humanity thrift store for $15. It doesn't look like much now but after some paint and a little distressing I think it will be a great start to a new room for my hubby and me!
Well, now that I've bought this door I guess I really do have to move forward on this project! Stay tuned to see more as my baby steps continue...
I am sharing this at Amanda's Show Me The Progress Party...Check out all the other projects people are working on in their homes!

  1. I gotta find me one of those habitat stores! Love the door!

  2. I am going to head over to my Restore... I want that exact door to use a headboard for my son. I am thinking of putting corkboard in each of the recessed areas. You have me inspired!!!

  3. Oh I love the corkboard idea Leslie!

  4. that's a great looking door! can't wait to see how you use it.

thanks for stopping by & leaving a comment.

  5. Hi, Jennifer! I love the door you chose...don't you love finding inspiration like that in the blog world? :)

So you've already made some Progress!! I'll host this party again in a couple of months and you can give us another update!

Thanks so much for linking up. :) Hope you are having fun "mingling" at the party. :)
