Friday Favorites

After all of the drama and unexpected chaos that happened yesterday, I am happy to report that today was quiet and uneventful.  I've received many emails about my previous post about yesterday's events and I thank you for your kind words.  It was quite a day!


So, on to my Friday Favorites.  Here are a few things I've pinned recently that I am anxious to try...

I like this Tree of Love from Tatertots and Jello...a cute Valentine project for my kitchen table.


I saw that my friend Mandy pinned this "recipe" for a homemade Soap Scum Killa.  Last night she reported that she tried it and it worked great.  I am giving this one a try this week too!

Friday Favorites

Wow...where did this week go?  I had such good intentions of posting a few times but somehow that didn't happen.  However, I have worked on some posts today and you will see them next week, including my recipe for Sloppy Joes and one for the birds :)

I did manage to find a few minutes to see some neat things online this week.  Here are few favorites...

I am anxious to start creating some of my own fun printables thanks to the tutorial from Thrifty Decor Chick...


I thought this was a good tutorial for making the Scrabble tile coasters that are all over Pinterest.  This was found on Domestic For Dummies.
 

And since I have been trying to stick to healthy eating choices I have no immediate plans to make these treats but I know at some point I will give them a try.  Don't these look amazingly yummy!?!?  Thanks Cookies and Cups!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  My family and I will be busy with all sorts of festive fun...attending a birthday party for Jesus with the kids at our church, finishing our Christmas shopping, whipping up some goodies in the kitchen for gift-giving and enjoying a family movie night with a Christmas classic (haven't decided yet ~ maybe Elf...that's a cute one!).

Here it is…another week has gone by without a post from me.  It’s been a busy week getting my little guy to Lego camp each day, having playdates with both kids’ friends, spending time at the pool, and other fun summertime stuff with the kids.

It's been forever since I've done a Friday Favorites post.  I haven't been reading many blogs lately with everything else that's been going on.  So, this week I took a little time to check up on some of my favorite food blogs and thought I'd share a few things that caught my eye.

I just love Centsational Girl's Patchwork Picnic Blanket.  I don't know how to sew...wish I did...so I won't be making this one.  But for those of you who are handy like that, this is a great tutorial.  And these DIY Colorful Dessert Stands are awesome.  I am always amazed at the creative bloggers out there!

Amanda has been doing a series of posts on Commenting 101 Blogging Tips & Tricks.  This week she wrote about How To Leave a Good Comment.  I know I have a lot of readers who are not bloggers themselves so I thought I'd include this post.  I've learned a lot about leaving a good comment from several fellow bloggers who consistently leave me such nice, genuine words about something I post.  It makes my day to read all of the comments I receive so for those of you who read some of my posts but stay quiet...please share some comment love!

I liked checking out all the creativity from bloggers who linked up their projects using their crafty cutters at Amanda's I {Heart} My Crafty Cutter Party.  I don't have one of these things but they sure are neat.  I love all the fun projects.

And last but not least, I just loved reading The Nester's take on How To Cure Thrift Store Shopping, I Hate To Pass Up a Great Deal-itis Disease Syndrome.  She wrote 3 posts on it this week.  All were a great read.  I think know I suffer from this syndrome...do you?  Check out all 3 posts and see what you think.

It's been a busy week. Why does it seem that everything hits all at one time? Wow. A lot going on and trying to keep it all straight. Whew...

So, I haven't been checking out many blogs and such this week but I did manage to find a few goodies for you. These are definitely worth checking out.

You've got to read The Shape of a Mother posted on Binkies and Briefcases. Wow, can I relate to Stephanie!

I am loving these super cute Dollar Store Mugs that I saw posted on How Does She? Yep, I will be making some of these!

For the Love of Cake...

Do you ever watch those cake decorating shows? There's a bunch of them on tv these days...reality shows and competitions on the Food Network.


Many, many years ago I used to be a cake decorator. Ok, that is REALLY stretching it when I put it that way. But I did decorate cakes. They were ice cream cakes at Baskin Robbins (yum!!). What I did was SO basic and amateur but it was fun and I still use those basic skills on occasion for cakes for my family.


Well, the other day I was flipping through my new issue of Family Circle magazine and came across a little article about Cake Pops. Have you seen these things? So cute!

The little article refers to a blogger who started making these things and I knew I had to check it out. I am loving her blog and I bet you will too! She's actually published a cookbook all about Cake Pops (coming out in September). So far in looking around her blog my favorite Cake Pops are the Ice Cream Cone ones.

Friday Favorites ~ It's Fall Y'all

I just LOVE fall, don't you? It is my favorite season. I especially love the warm, earthy colors. My home is filled with lots of browns and earthy colors year-round and I get excited when I can add fall leaves and pumpkins to the mix!

I know, I know...it's only August 27th, not fall. But the kids went back to school this week and that somehow plays with my mind that fall is here. Or at least right around the corner.

I'm not the only one anxiously awaiting the time to start pulling out my fall decor. Check it out...

One of my very favorites, Thrift Decor Chick, hosted an impromptu fall decor linky party on her blog the other day. Lots of people linked up with fall crafts, decor, Halloween stuff. You get the idea.

Earlier this week I stumbled across a blog that was participating in a Parade of Homes over on Poppies at Play. I was hooked and each day looked forward to the next batch of bloggers who were showcasing parts of their homes in this virtual tour. In all there are 20 bloggers who have let us in for a peek.
